Los Gatos Personal Trainer - What if I fail . . . again?

I have spent my fair share of time failing in my quest to lose weight and get healthy in the past 15 years. My life always had an exercise and health thread running through it, from soccer and volleyball, (always) swimming to coaching to even becoming a personal trainer and mastering my craft for my clients the last 7 years! Oh, I could lose weight by exercise, I could lose weight by dieting, and I could train for that 10k run coming up. But why did I seem to keep losing the SAME few lbs over and over again?

That's not true weight loss. You know what that's called? . . .  Maintenance!

I knew what to do, so why couldn't I just pull myself together? Some days I felt like my body was broken ~ like I was doing all the right things and nothing worked, even though science said it should. And there were other days when I just didn't make the right decisions and sabotaged myself because I was “tired of fighting” the cravings. I used to tell myself that I'd start again tomorrow, or Monday, or after that specific event . . .

Los Gatos Personal Trainer - Today is the day!

Today is the day that you're going to get that thing done!  Today is the day you will change your life.  Today is the day that you will write that blog.  Today is the day that you will inspire someone.  Today is the day you will meet someone special.  Today is the day you will step outside of your comfort zone.  Today is the day you will stand up for yourself.  Today is the day you say "no" when you wish you could say "yes".  Today is the day you protect your family.  Today is the day you prioritize your time.  Today is the day you choose to eat healthier.  Today is the day you go work out.  Today is the day you prioritize your health.  Today is the day you follow through on your promises.  Today is the day you sacrifice your time to help someone in need.  Today is the day you will declutter.  Today is the day you'll . . .

What I learned - It's Just Like Riding a Bike - Los Gatos Personal Trainer

Being a personal trainer and running a small business with 3 little kids doesn't leave much time for "us" activities, even though Drew and I have been happily married for over 14 years.  I didn't realize it at the time, but I got exactly what I wanted out of the Trek Dirt Series in Los Gatos.  It went way beyond switchbacks and climbing over and around rocks, the basic goals I had going into the weekend.  Remember, I also had fear, hesitancy and a major lack of self confidence about anything bike-related.

Are You Ready? - It's Just Like Riding a Bike - Los Gatos Personal Trainer

I've talked a lot lately about the Trek Dirt Series in Los Gatos back in April.  As a personal trainer, I know how important it is to have good coaching ~ the kind of coaching that teaches skills.  The coaching that meets you where you're at instead of putting you into cookie cutter programs.  Good coaching inspires you to be better with education, accountability, support and encouragement.

Does this sound like you?  I can be my own worst critic, and it's easy to pick apart my weaknesses and flaws.  I can make mistakes and dwell on them for hours, days or months even.  What about the things I haven't done yet (laundry and dishes, anyone)?  I beat myself up over making the wrong food choices, and get totally embarrassed when I have to admit that out loud.
