Los Gatos Personal Trainer - Today is the day!

Today is the day that you're going to get that thing done!  Today is the day you will change your life.  Today is the day that you will write that blog.  Today is the day that you will inspire someone.  Today is the day you will meet someone special.  Today is the day you will step outside of your comfort zone.  Today is the day you will stand up for yourself.  Today is the day you say "no" when you wish you could say "yes".  Today is the day you protect your family.  Today is the day you prioritize your time.  Today is the day you choose to eat healthier.  Today is the day you go work out.  Today is the day you prioritize your health.  Today is the day you follow through on your promises.  Today is the day you sacrifice your time to help someone in need.  Today is the day you will declutter.  Today is the day you'll . . .

What I learned - It's Just Like Riding a Bike - Los Gatos Personal Trainer

Being a personal trainer and running a small business with 3 little kids doesn't leave much time for "us" activities, even though Drew and I have been happily married for over 14 years.  I didn't realize it at the time, but I got exactly what I wanted out of the Trek Dirt Series in Los Gatos.  It went way beyond switchbacks and climbing over and around rocks, the basic goals I had going into the weekend.  Remember, I also had fear, hesitancy and a major lack of self confidence about anything bike-related.

Are You Ready? - It's Just Like Riding a Bike - Los Gatos Personal Trainer

I've talked a lot lately about the Trek Dirt Series in Los Gatos back in April.  As a personal trainer, I know how important it is to have good coaching ~ the kind of coaching that teaches skills.  The coaching that meets you where you're at instead of putting you into cookie cutter programs.  Good coaching inspires you to be better with education, accountability, support and encouragement.

Does this sound like you?  I can be my own worst critic, and it's easy to pick apart my weaknesses and flaws.  I can make mistakes and dwell on them for hours, days or months even.  What about the things I haven't done yet (laundry and dishes, anyone)?  I beat myself up over making the wrong food choices, and get totally embarrassed when I have to admit that out loud.

Find Them! - It's Just Like Riding a Bike - Los Gatos Personal Trainer

Do you want to conquer some skill, event or life change? One of the best ways to succeed is to surround yourself with a great support system. I was so thankful to have an amazing support system built into my weekend at the Trek Dirt Series, and can't wait to go again next year (and bring some friends with me)!  I had phenomenal coaches at every moment, a skills group of riders each morning that had the same laser focus of learning the specific skills and a riding group in the afternoons that went out to practice our new skills with encouragement and support on the mountain.

The best support system is usually made from a few different types of people.  First, there are teachers and mentors like a personal trainer, instructor or someone who's been in your shoes and successfully navigated the path ahead.  Next, there are people with your same or similar goals.  The third type of people to have in your support system are those who are currently where you used to be, a few steps behind in the journey.
